We are very pleased to note a new collaborative project from Dan Stanciu and Sasha Vlad, Inventar. The Romanian title means “Inventory”. It represents a collection of invented “objects” that was obtained through the exquisite corpse method. Sasha Vlad did the illustrations with Dan Stanciu contributing a lot of commentaries and para-commentaries. Regretfully, we are told that the book is untranslatable, given the plays on words and lexical inventions that function only in Romanian.
Even if we who cannot read Romanian are unable to fully grasp the lexical jouissance of the effervescent language, the illustrations and wordplay make it an exciting prospect for those who nourish themselves on the always surprising magic of collective poetic invention.
